Maharajas’ Express Nominated as World’s Leading Luxury Train by WTA

Leading Indian luxury train, the Maharaja Express, has been nominated as the World’s Leading Luxury Train by 19th World Travel Awards to be held on 12 December, 2012 in New Delhi.

The snazzy Maharajas Express will compete with Orient Express (Venice-Simplon Orient Express of UK) along with other great luxury trains in the world. Nominees include The Blue Train and the Pride of Africa (South Africa), Royal Canadian Pacific (Canada), the Queen of the Scots (Scotland), the Andean Explorer (Europe) and the Hiram Bingham (United Kingdom). The train also faces stiff competition from its Indian counterpart, the Indian Maharaja, which has already bagged the award for being the best Luxury Train in Asia this year.

Maharajas’ Express is owned and operated by Indian Railways and Catering and Tourism Corporation and runs on multiple, 3 nights and 7 nights, journeys.

The train is absolutely loaded with contemporary facilities such as in-suite bathroom, Wi-Fi internet, electronic safe, live TV with satellite channels and direct dial phones.

There are also 2 on board restaurants serving a variety of Indian and international cuisines, a well stocked bar, an observation lounge with library and a high-end boutique with exquisite souvenirs to offer.
